UX Tuesday (Brno) - Design Systems in the Age of AI: Why They Still Matter

Whether you’re a seasoned UX designer or someone without a UX title on your badge, you’re more than welcome to join us for another UX meetup in Brno. With AI tools creating designs faster than ever, it’s tempting to question the relevance of design systems. Some designers feel FOMO or worry about being left behind. But design systems are more important than ever, especially as teams move faster. In this talk, I’ll share why the core value of design systems hasn’t changed: they bring clarity, consistency, and exact materials that engineers can rely on. I’ll also talk about how AI can actually support design systems, not replace them, and how system designers can use AI to their advantage instead of feeling threatened by it. ⚡ Fast doesn’t have to mean messy. Design systems keep things strong when everything else speeds.

👩‍💻 About Petra: Petra is a long-distance runner in the design field, with deep experience from the early stage of system audits to the maturity of large-scale systems. At Livesport, Petra co-created and maintained a comprehensive design system and processes, working closely with engineering, QA, marketing, and product to deliver real cross-functional value. Petra believes that strong systems and thoughtful processes empower teams to move faster and with greater clarity. She has been working with AI since her school years, bringing a thoughtful and hands-on approach to how it can support design practice today. Outside of digital design, Petra is passionate about the energy of physical spaces, especially interior and hospitality design, and cares deeply about aesthetics and how environments influence the way people feel.
